Editorial Policy & Corrections
- We buy what we test with our own money
Morning Regular exists to help you choose a coffee subscription with clear, honest, dated information. This page explains how we decide what to cover, how we rank it, and how we fix mistakes.
How we choose what to cover
We cover coffee subscriptions sold to US customers, in two lanes:
- Organic: brands or clearly labeled product lines with a stated organic certification.
- Everyday: good-value or convenient subscriptions where organic isn’t the focus.
We look for subscriptions people actually search for and ask about, plus smaller roasters that deserve a look. Whether a brand has an affiliate program plays no part in whether we include it.
How we rank and pick
Our comparison pages compare published information, and we never imply we’ve tasted a coffee we haven’t brewed ourselves. Picks and rankings on those pages are based only on:
- published price, bag size, and shipping, normalized to price per cup;
- certifications, attributed to the brand unless confirmed in a public directory;
- subscription and gift policies: cadence, discounts, renewals, and cancellation terms.
Customer ratings: next to each brand on our main comparison we show its Trustpilot rating out of 5 and review count, with the date we checked, linked to its Trustpilot page. The numbers are Trustpilot’s, not our assessment; they change over time and aren’t used to rank or pick. See How we test.
When we’ve bought and brewed a product ourselves under our How we test method, we publish a review labeled “Tested by us” and add those hands-on results (freshness, espresso results, delivery, cancellation) to the decision.
We don’t publish our own scores or ratings for products we haven’t brewed.
Independence
- Brands can’t pay for placement, rankings, or reviews.
- Brands don’t review our pages before they’re published.
- Commissions don’t change picks. Links that can earn a commission (right now, only our Volcanica links) are disclosed at the top of the page, before the first link. See our affiliate disclosure.
- We pay for what we test. Our first two orders (Atlas Coffee Club and Volcanica’s organic Mexican Dark Roast) were placed Oct 8, 2026 with our own money. Our ratings of coffee we brew ourselves will reflect espresso on a home machine only. If a brand ever sends us product or anything else of value, we’ll say so on every page where that brand appears.
Facts, sources, and dates
- Prices come with dates. Every price shows when we checked it, for example “(price checked Oct 8, 2026).” If we can’t confirm a price, we don’t publish it as fact.
- We use primary sources. Prices and terms come from the brand’s own website. If we use a third-party source, we say so.
- Certifications are attributed or confirmed. We attribute certifications to the brand unless we’ve confirmed them in the USDA Organic Integrity Database or the certifier’s directory; confirmed ones carry the date we checked.
- No health claims. See our health-claims policy.
- No invented numbers. We don’t publish made-up statistics, quotes, testimonials, or reader counts.
Updates
We plan to re-check published prices monthly, and every price shows the date we checked it. When a page changes in a way that matters (a new pick, a price change that moves a ranking, a product moving to “Tested by us”), we add a dated update note at the top.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help research brands’ published prices and policies, organize our comparison data, and draft and edit pages. Srinivas Madabushi reviews every page, checks prices and terms against the brand’s own site, and approves it before it’s published. AI doesn’t write our tasting notes, ratings, or test results: every “Tested by us” label, rating, and tasting note will come from coffee we bought and brewed ourselves. If you spot an error, tell us.
Corrections {#corrections}
If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and say so.
- Small fixes (a typo, a broken link) are corrected without a note.
- Factual errors (a wrong price, a wrong certification, a wrong policy) are corrected, and we add a dated note on the page saying what changed.
- Significant errors that affected a pick or ranking get a note at the top of the page and an entry in the log below.
To report an error, contact us with the page link and what’s wrong.
