Trade vs Atlas Coffee Club

  • Prices checked Oct 19, 2026

Verdict: Both send coffee you don’t pick bag by bag, and both have an intro offer: Atlas’s Fall Sale (“first bag free with subscription”: the Double’s first shipment is $17 instead of $34, the Single’s $10 instead of $20, before shipping) and Trade’s Discovery Trial with a free first bag (both checked Oct 19, 2026). Pick Atlas for one country’s coffee in each box at a published plan price; we bought and brewed one, and in Srinivas’s words, “I am really impressed.” Pick Trade if you’d rather take a quiz and get matched with coffees from different US roasters. We’ve compared Trade’s published terms but haven’t tried it.

How this comparison works: We bought and brewed one Atlas box at home (see our Atlas Coffee Club review). We haven’t tried Trade. For Trade, this page compares only the published prices and terms on its own site, checked on the dates shown. It says nothing about how Trade’s coffee tastes.

What you get

  • Atlas: one single-origin coffee from a different country each box, with a postcard and an origin card. Atlas says each batch is roasted to order in Austin, TX.
  • Trade: you answer a few questions about how you brew and what you like, and Trade matches you with coffees from partner roasters around the country. Trade says it fine-tunes your picks as it learns your preferences.
  • Choice: Atlas picks the coffee and country; you set roast, flavor profile and grind. Trade picks for you too, but from your quiz answers.

What we found with Atlas

Srinivas bought a Double (24 oz) box with his own money and paid $22.95 for that first box. He brewed it as espresso and as a milk drink on a Breville home machine. In his words: “The coffee tasted very fresh. I am really impressed.”

As espresso it tasted bright, chocolatey and nutty, with a strong flavor, and the coffee still came through clearly in a milk drink. His verdict: he was really impressed, but know that after the intro offer it renews at the list price, $34 every 4 weeks on the Double plan. Full details in our Atlas Coffee Club review.

What we know about Trade

We haven’t tried Trade. Everything here comes from Trade’s own site and Help Center. Its Discovery Trial is 3 bags from 3 roasters: the page shows one up first, then one in 2 weeks and one in 4 weeks (checked Oct 19, 2026). Trade doesn’t say on the trial page what the plan costs once the trial ends. Its Help Center lists Essential bags at $16.99 and Signature at $21.99 (10.9 oz), with 2-lb bags at $39.99 and $49.99. The trial ships free; after that, each pay-per-shipment order has $3.99 shipping, while pre-paid and 2-lb subscriptions ship free (all checked Oct 19, 2026).

Renewing and canceling

Both renew automatically until you cancel.

  • Atlas: renews at the list price: $20 (Single), $34 (Double) or $13 (Half) per shipment. Pause, skip or cancel anytime; 30-day money-back guarantee (checked Oct 19, 2026).
  • Trade: cancel anytime from My Subscription on the Dashboard, or pause for up to 3 months with the Pause Subscription button. Make date changes a full 24 hours before your next order date. Pre-paid plans end after their last pre-paid bag (checked Oct 19, 2026). The price after the trial isn’t stated on the trial page.

Who should pick which

  • Pick Atlas Coffee Club if you like the idea of a coffee from a new country each time, with the story behind it, at a published plan price (shipping is added at checkout). It’s also the one we’ve actually brewed.
  • Pick Trade if you’d rather tell a quiz what you like and get coffees from different US roasters. Its trial is an easy way to see three of them. After the trial, plan on $3.99 shipping per order unless you pre-pay or choose 2-lb bags.

FAQ

Which is cheaper, Trade or Atlas? It’s hard to say exactly. Atlas’s Single plan is $20 for 12 oz (checked Oct 19, 2026), before shipping, which is shown at checkout. Trade’s standard 10.9 oz bags are $16.99 (Essential) or $21.99 (Signature), plus $3.99 shipping per pay-per-shipment order after the free-shipping trial (checked Oct 19, 2026).

Can I cancel anytime? Both say you can. Atlas says “Pause, skip, or cancel anytime.” Trade lets you cancel anytime from My Subscription on the Dashboard or pause for up to 3 months (both checked Oct 19, 2026).

Did you taste these coffees? Atlas, yes: Srinivas bought and brewed a box at home; see our review. Trade, no. We compared its published terms only. If we try it later, we’ll say so clearly and link to it here.
