Volcanica Organic Mexican Dark Roast Review
- Prices checked Oct 19, 2026
- We buy what we test with our own money
Tested by us (espresso, home machine)
By Srinivas Madabushi. Srinivas Madabushi bought Volcanica’s Mexican Dark Roast Coffee - USDA Organic, Reserve with his own money, received it Oct 13, 2026, and brewed it as espresso on his home Breville.
Disclosure: I paid $18.76 with my own money ($18.39 first subscription order plus $0.37 tax, free shipping). It wasn’t free. Morning Regular has no affiliate deal with Volcanica, so there are no paid links on this page.
Verdict: A rich, full-bodied dark roast where you taste every sip, with brown sugar and maple coming through. The body was much richer than the Atlas coffee I tried. Organic is a big plus, and I’d order it again.
Volcanica says: 20% off your first subscription order, 10% off later orders
Coffee Club subscriptions. Volcanica says subscriptions ship free; one-time orders ship free at $60+, otherwise $6.95 flat. Volcanica says "10% off all future shipments" and that you can pause or cancel anytime; renews until you cancel.

Proof of purchase: my order receipt (order number blurred).

What I thought
In my own words, after brewing it:
“The box had no branding but the coffee package was bright and told the story about being grown on high volcanic mountainous regions. This was Organic so it’s a big plus! Didn’t really say where the beans came from just said various small holder farms[.] I got a dark roast and you could taste every sip. Very rich body! You could taste the brown sugar and maple .. I would order this one again! The body of this coffee was much richer [than] what I had with Atlas coffee .. I will have to order the beans next time to make this even better..”
How it tasted
As espresso, it had a very rich body, and the flavor came through in every sip. I could taste brown sugar and maple. The body was much richer than the Atlas coffee I had.
What I liked
- Rich body. Very rich, and much richer than the Atlas coffee I tried.
- Brown sugar and maple. Those were the flavors I tasted, and you could taste every sip. The bag lists “Brown sugar, maple syrup, and a rich body”.
- Organic. This coffee is labeled USDA Organic, which is a big plus for me.
- A bag that tells a story. The bright bag tells the story of coffee grown in high volcanic mountain regions.
- I’d buy it again. Next time I’ll order whole beans to make it even better.
Watch-outs
- Not much origin detail. The bag says “various smallholder farms” but doesn’t name a farm or region.
- Plain shipping box. The outer box had no branding; all the branding is on the bag.
- The first order is cheaper than the rest. My first subscription order was $18.39 (20% off). After that it’s $20.69 a bag (10% off), so budget on that (checked Oct 19, 2026).
- It renews until you cancel. Volcanica says you can pause or cancel anytime in your Coffee Club account (checked Oct 19, 2026).
- Not every Volcanica coffee is organic. Check that the coffee you pick says “USDA Organic” on its product page.
Who it’s for
- You’ll like it if you want a rich, full-bodied organic dark roast with free subscription shipping.
- Look elsewhere if you want to know the exact farm or region your coffee comes from, or a new origin with every box. See our Atlas Coffee Club review.
